Estonia Celebrated Its 100th Birthday

On February 24, the Republic of Estonia celebrated the 100th anniversary of becoming an independent country. Dozens of events dedicated to this special occasion took place in Estonia and abroad.

For many, the day started with the festive flag-raising ceremony at Tall Hermann Tower in Tallinn, continued with the anniversary parade at Freedom Square and ended with watching President’s Independence Day reception and concert.

Celebrations also took place at Tallinn’s Old City Harbour. Passenger terminals were festively decorated and passengers were welcomed by the brass orchestra of Port of Tallinn and folk dancers. The Tallink ferries also played the Estonian national anthem on the ship horns at the harbour.

Different events dedicated to Estonia 100 continue to take place all year around.
