Green Marine received the award “Friend of the Baltic Sea 2014“

Port of Tallinn’s subsidiary Green Marine Ltd. was honoured by SEI Tallinn as an outstanding enterprise of the Estonian marine sector with the green economy promoter award “Friend of the Baltic Sea 2014” at the national Sustainable Development Forum 2014 that was held on October 28th in Tallinn.

Green Marine was recognized for its innovative activity that has helped to improve the waste management on ships and in harbour areas. Green Marine has also increased the ability to ensure the safety at the Baltic Sea region.

The Forum had a subtitle „Blue economy in the vulnerable Baltic Sea“ and was dedicated to the Gulf of Finland Year 2014 and the start of the two-year Estonian Presidency both in HELCOM and in the Council of the Baltic Sea States. The primary target group of the Forum was the Estonian business sector. The Forum addressed blue economy and blue growth in the European Union; changes in the Baltic Sea from the viewpoint of different sectors; marine spatial planning process and cooperation needs.

Green Marine Ltd. is a joint venture of Port of Tallinn Ltd. and NT Marine Ltd. GM economic activity is targeted on developing of environmental services for ports and ships, on sea pollution prevention, localization and liquidation issues in accordance with international standards.

GM also coordinates waste management services offering to the ships within the ports of Port of Tallinn (Muuga Port, Old Port, Paljassaare Harbor, Paldiski South Harbor and Saaremaa Harbor).
