From 21-23 September a high-level delegation of Chinese cultural and educational officials were in Estonia, led by Member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee of China Mr. Li Changchun.
During his visit, Li Changchun participated in the opening of the Confucius Institute at Tallinn University and met with Riigikogu Speaker Ms. Ene Ergma and Prime Minister Mr. Andrus Ansip.
Due to the initiative shown by the Chinese, a visit was organised to the Port of Tallinn. Andres Valgerist, the Chief Marketing and Communication Officer of the Port of Tallinn, greeting the delegation at the Muuga Harbour, gave the dignified guests an overview of the activities and development plans of the Port of Tallinn. The delegation was given a tour of the Vessel Traffic Service Port Control Centre and Mr. Li Changchun signed the guest book of the Port of Tallinn.
The high-level guest was impressed by the activities and plans of the Port and he voiced a hope that the co-operation between the enterprises of both our countries will grow closer and will be carried out in the near future in more substantial joint activities and forms of co-operation.
During the visit to Estonia, Mr. Li Changchun is accompanied by a sizeable delegation that – together with the representatives of the Chinese press – consists of 60 people.
