On September 20th, Port of Tallinn’s Supervisory Board approved the appointment of Margus Vihman as Port of Tallinn’s third Member of the Management Board. As Chief Commercial Officer, Vihman will assume responsibility for Port of Tallinn’s commercial activities – customer relations and sales.
According to Port of Tallinn’s Chairman of the Management Board Valdo Kalm, the company sought first and foremost someone who would be proactive in finding new categories of freight and operators for the position of Chief Commercial Officer.
"What was a decisive factor in choosing Margus Vihman was his long-term sales experience with international companies, but likewise his good analytical skills and strategic and tactical sales planning skills," explained Kalm. "Likewise important were his active attitude and willingness to contribute to the development and implementation of sales strategies for the Port of Tallinn’s various lines of business."
Margus Vihman said that a new challenge, which enables him to implement his existing experience and also develop in new fields of activity, motivated him to apply for the new post the most. Vihman will assume the duties of Port of Tallinn’s Member of the Management Board / Chief Commercial Officer on a five-year contract beginning on November, 1st.
Vihman holds a master’s degree in international business administration from the Estonian Business School (EBS). He previously worked as sales director at Wolf Group parent company Krimelte, where he was responsible for the development and implementation of sales strategy. He also has previous experience as the sales director for Northwestern Russia at roof manufacturer Ruukki, as director of Russian operations at Henkel Makroflex and as director of Hilti Eesti, experience which Vihman himself finds will benefit his work at the Port of Tallinn.
29 people submitted applications in the competition for the position of the member of the management board /chief commercial officer of Port of Tallinn and additional candidates were specifically selected by HR company Amrop.
Currently, the management board of Port of Tallinn includes two members, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Valdo Kalm and Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Marko Raid.
