In May, the European Sea Ports Organisation (ESPO) elected Port of Tallinn as port of the month. With the title “Port of the Month” ESPO honours ports that with their activities can be seen as positive role models for other ports.
According to Ellen Kaasik, the Head of Quality and Environmental Management Department of Port of Tallinn, it was a pleasure to get ESPO’s recognition. “We are happy that ESPO has noticed Port of Tallinn’s recent activities and sees us as positive role models for other ports,” added Kaasik, who during the period of 2014-2016 holds also a Chairman position of ESPO’s Sustainable Development Committee.
ESPO’s mission is to influence public policy in the EU in order to achieve a safe, efficient and environmentally sustainable European port sector, operating as a key element of a transport industry where free and undistorted market conditions prevail, as far as practicable.
ESPO, an organisation founded in 1993, unites ports from 25 different European countries.
