Tallinn to host the 22nd International Maritime Conference: Navigating the New Realities

The 22nd International Maritime Conference will take place on 24–25 September 2026 at the Tallink Spa & Conference Hotel in Tallinn, bringing together leading maritime experts, decision-makers and industry representatives from Estonia and neighbouring countries.

Organised by the Estonian Shipowners’ Association, Port of Tallinn, TalTech Estonian Maritime Academy, Tallink Grupp and Corpore Conferences, the event is the oldest maritime conference in the Baltics. Over the years, it has welcomed around 4,000 participants from more than 10 countries and featured some 400 speakers from Estonia and abroad.

This year’s conference, titled “Navigating the New Realities”, will focus on the rapidly changing operating environment of the maritime sector and the challenges and opportunities shaping its future. Around 30 maritime experts will share their perspectives on topics ranging from decarbonisation and competitiveness to maritime security, ship design, future technologies and developments in Baltic Sea shipping.

Among the keynote speakers are Bartłomiej Gurba from the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Climate Action, who will address the EU ETS review and its implications for shipping and European competitiveness, and Vincent Rudelle, Managing Director of LMG Marin France, who will discuss the potential of large double-ended ferries as a competitive solution for Baltic Sea shipping.

The programme also brings together senior representatives from ports, shipping companies, authorities, academia and other maritime organisations to exchange views on how the sector can successfully adapt to new economic, environmental and geopolitical realities.

The conference traditionally marks World Maritime Day and provides an important meeting point for representatives of the maritime, transport, public, academic and business sectors to discuss the future of maritime affairs and identify solutions that support both economic development and society.

The programme will begin on 24 September with visits to Port of Tallinn and Tallink Group, followed by a networking reception. The main conference programme will take place on 25 September.
